An Antique Japanese Edo Era Silk Temple Banner
This Edo period silk temple banner, or ban, was created from salvaged silk kimono. The proper "front" is the green blue side with soft orange binding. It is perhaps equally striking with the reverse displayed, which bears the dedicator's names. The upper and middle portion of the banner is made from wood with metal details.
