Omi-jofu Hemp Kasuri Zabuton Set with Plum, Fans and Battledore Rackets
This is a beautiful hemp kasuri zabuton, or seating cushion, made from a finely woven Omi-jofu hemp or ramie from Shiga prefecture.
A pattern with plum bossoms, ribbed fans, and battledore rackets, was created with a double ikat technique. The cushion has been hand sewn and tacked with dark red silk thread in five spots. The inside layer of cotton batting is rather thin, a bit different than modern zabuton, as cotton was scarce and valuable when these were created.
This cushion is part of a set of four, which can be purchased as a group or individually. They are all in beautiful condition.
