Ochre, Brown, and Indigo Komebukuro Rice Bag
A large handstitched komebukuro patchwork bag with an interesting patchwork bottom.
Komebukuro were originally created to bring rice offerings to temple or to hold small meaningful gifts and often are created from many different pieces of different pieces of cotton as seen here.
This komebukuro has ochre yellow, brown, and indigo colors. An interesting flat bottom was created with a sort of box gusset at each of four corners. A orange red half lining was placed around the opening. The original tie seems to have been replaced at some point but otherwise it is in excellent condition.
