Vintage Japanese Zokin, Traditional Dust Cloth
This is a large traditional Japanese zokin, or hand stitched dust cloth.
Zokin were created from salvaged fabric—such as a fragment from a worn out kimono, perhaps—which was layered, secured, and reinforced with sashiko stitching. A practical reuse of cloth to aid in cleaning and dusting around the home.
This is a larger example created from three layers of medium weight indigo dyed cotton.
